Seeding the Green Future (SGF): Participatory breeding to secure income of organic cotton farmers and genetic diversity for climate change adaptation

About SGF

FiBL initiated the Seeding the Green Future (SGF) project in 2017 with the support from Mercator Foundation Switzerland and Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA). This project is being implemented in collaboration with local Indian partners to develop and deliver non-GM cotton varieties to the thousands of farmers striving to pursue organic cotton cultivation in major cotton growing belt of India.

SGF is conceived as a long-term project with a vision to improve the availability of non-GM cotton seeds of improved varieties. The project is also anticipated to have significant spill over effects for non-participating stakeholders across the value chain and amongst major brands.
